An informal account of life, recreation, fun and travel in Plumas County, edited by Plumas County Visitors Bureau staff.

Good News! The Plumas County Tourism, Recreation and Hospitality Council has been formed to ensure that this website continues to operate. While there is no longer a visitor center at the airport in Quincy, the staff at the Plumas County Museum in Quincy are happy to have you drop by with any questions you may have about our area. You’ll find them just behind the big white courthouse in downtown Quincy. Their hours right now are from 10 am to 4 pm Tuesday through Saturday. You’ll also find friendly travel advice from a number of downtown Quincy merchants. Here’s a list of visitor centers throughout Plumas County. So whether you’re planning to visit anywhere from Lake Almanor to Graeagle and Portola, we’ve got you covered!

Well ..visitors.... it's been a rough ride these past few years, and we are so sad to report that we've been forced to close down Visitors Bureau and Visitor Center operations as this month due to lack of funding!

Whether this proves to be temporary or more permanent, time will tell. The Visitors Bureau has been in operation for decades, and in fact, just missed celebrating its 80th anniversary, which would have been in February 7, 2012.

Those of you who have visited the center at the airport outside of Quincy -- the staff and the kitties will miss you. We're happy to report that our cat ambassadors, now 13, who lived at the center for their entire lives, have found a good home and are happily retired.

We'd also like say we so appreciate the visitors who've used our services and given us such positive feedback. It's been a pleasure serving you.

With all of the seasonal outdoor beauty, recreation, rural hospitality, fun events, and laid-back atmosphere Plumas County offers, it's been a fairly easy job convincing you to come visit. We hope you've you'll tell others about your trips, and of course we hope you'll come back often.

We leave this website fairly current --  lodging and calendar listings have been updated for the year -- and hope you'll continue to use it to help plan your trips. We regret that the blogs, including the fishing report, birders news, and seasonal blogs tracking wildflowers and fall colors, may be out-of-date.

If you're looking for live help, we hope you'll call on the various tourism partners listed on the Visitors Centers page. You might also check various Facebook sites, including ours, which might have posts from other visitors with current travel info or advice.

It's been great sharing this awesome destination with you, and we invite you to have a wonderful, relaxing time on your future visits.

Most sincerely,

The (former) staff of Plumas County Visitors Bureau
